3 “The 3 Major Characters in Marriage”

09.04.09 | Posted by admin | 1 Comment

They say three’s a crowd, but when it comes to marriage, it is three that makes the pair. Do you know what the roles of each individual are? Check out the list below, some are self explanatory and some would require a little bit of understanding, don’t worry it takes a while for anyone to grasp the whole thing, but as they say, marriage has quite a learning curve.

Therefore we present to you a small list based of what we find in the bible, so take some time, browse through that big thick book and see what it has to say on that matter. Were sure you’ll find it useful either now or sometime in the future.

The Husband

The Husband is the Head of the wife – Ephesians 5:23-24
In these times when both men and women are equal decision makers in the household, some areas of jurisdiction overlap, and that sometimes causes tension, it is in the design of marriage that both side’s opinions are heard and considered, but it should be the husband that has the final say.

He should Serve his wife – Mark 10:42-45
But wait, why follow it through with this statement? Even in marriage we are called to be like Christ, who even being the son of God, came to earth to seek and to serve!

Be Understanding – 1 Peter 3:7

To Love his wife – Ephesians 5:25-27
It is easy say this but it takes a lifetime to really understand your partner. But in understanding your partner you learn to love them more.

To Provide – 1 Timothy 5:8
There is nothing wrong if both the husband and the wife provides for the family, but the primary duty falls on the husband.

The Wife

The Wife is the Helpmate of the Man – Genesis 2:18
Do you know the saying: “behind every successful man is a woman”? It holds true you know…

She should Respect her husband – Ephesians 5:33

Wives should Submit to their Husbands – Ephesians 5:22-24

To Love her husband – Titus 2:4-5

Speak to build him up and not tear down – Proverbs 31:11-12
By respecting, submitting, loving and speaking well of your husband, it automatically builds a strong foundation to your marriage, since the two are a unit, when one falls the other falls also…

God/Christ

The Head of every Man – 1 Corinthians 11:3

We are all accountable to God – 2 Corinthians 5:9-10
When you think about it, to really know how marriage works, we should go back to the author of it…

I understand that there is no such thing as perfect relationship or marriage, those arguments/quarrels is just part of the marriage, to add spice in the relationship for others if I may say so..
But what if those ingredients would just ruined the relationship
In my experience I learned to evaluate my faults and eventually realized that no matter how hard I tried to save my relationship; without God at the center I will fail.

I learned that it is not because of ME why we stayed committed, or my effort to work things out that hold us for 8 years; God stayed committed to our relationship.

Marriage is a three – way covenant. It is a power of three.
Through every trial, triumph and test, He has promised not to leave us nor forsake us.
Now I have the reasons why we still want to get married, It is our fate, our destiny..

We may not be the perfect couple, but we both knew that when we shows love to one another it gives the message “ “you are special to me.”
